I loved Bishop Michael Curry's sermon at the Royal Wedding. It was refreshing both for its content and the reaction it generated amongst the amused guests. I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment of the sermon, however I do not believe that love is the sole result of religious faith, as was often suggested during the speech. "Ultimately, the source of love is God himself: the source of all of our lives".
Love, in my view, is a far more powerful force than any religion, in fact it supersedes all religions and has the power to bring peace and tranquility, something religion, it can be argued, struggles to achieve.
The debate here is not whether you believe the creation of earth was a cosmic event or an act of god, but rather that it really doesn't matter.
"We must discover the power of love, the redemptive power of love. And when we do that, we will make of this old world a new world, for love is the only way."
Martin Luther King
